Phew! It’s been a really busy week here.
There have been lots of lovely Clients having Consultations, planning new designs, picking up completed gowns and sending in their pictures. We’ve just updated our Client Gallery with the gorgeous images that they’ve shared so do visit the site and take a look. Erin was lovely enough to send us this ‘Thank You’ too.
And, if all that wasn’t enough we’ve also just passed 3000 Facebook likes!
Thank you so much to you all. Whether you are past or future clients, or just like to look at our designs we really appreciate your support
Design your own Mother of the Bride outfit
I have a truly stunning Mother of the Bride to share with you today!
This is the lovely Margaret in her very own, bespoke designs. Her dress is a variation on our Amanda style. This flattering shape with side swept pleats suits almost every one. Margaret wanted her dress cut with a sweetheart neckline so we were delighted to oblige. She chose a Silver Pure Silk Dupion fabric with a contrasting shade of Turquoise Pure SIlk Dupion for the highlights.
Margaret also chose two jackets for the two separate celebrations – the first is a longer length version of our Evie jacket in Pure Silk Dupion. The jacket collar facing and lining was in Turquioise silk and the sleeve buttons are Swarovski crystal. The second jacket is a panelled variation on our Lola jacket in a heavily embroidered beaded lace in a darker shade of silver.
Naturally the waist embellishment on the dress had to match each look so we made it removable. To cordinate with Silk jacket there is a matching bow with contrast lining and a diamante brooch, and for the lace jacket a lace bow with a different brooch.
Every detail of these pieces was chosen by Margaret to be exactly what she wanted and we loved guiding her through all the choices. Thank you so much for sharing the pictures of your family and gorgeous daughter Margaret. You can see more images below
The Bespoke Design process.
I’ve been working on some more bespoke designs today. I love getting busy with the sketch pad and working out the final details of a design. I never have a problem coming up with new ideas – the problem is sorting through them all to make sure I get the right match for the Client’s personal style. This is a vital part of what we offer – the world is full of ‘off the peg’ solutions but I want to make clothes that reflect the personal and unique style of my Client!
The picture above shows the second stage of the bespoke design process and the sketches that I produce to finalise a design after a Consultation. The hat, fabric, colour and diamonte trims shown are just a few of the thousands of options available. Sometimes a Client will fall in love with a particular fabric sample or colour and it can help me formulate the design when I have them in front of me. We have an amazing collection of diamante trims to choose from too so I like having the prettiest bits of bling around me to make sure I select the perfect ones.
Once the sketches are finished I just have to wait for my lovely Client to make the final decision. I know that this can take time. Making a decision about the right look is an important one, especially when you now the Wedding photographs and video are going to last a lifetime. I do strongly believe though that when we get the combination right the Client just ‘knows’. When we get the magic combination everything falls into place and all the stress of making the decision falls away.
Once thats done we’re one step closer to another unique, made to measure, personal style statement for another ‘Yummy Mummy’ Mother of the Bride.
Autumn Wedding Fashion
It’s decidedly chilly here today so I’m sharing a picture of a dress and jacket that would be perfect for an Autumn Wedding. Dressing can be tricky for those times that might fall ‘between’ when the weather can be unreliable – and lets face it, in the UK that can mean pretty the entire year!
This exclusive design is called ‘Cheryl’ and its shown here in Silk Tweed. This fabric is soft and fluid but also cosy and warm. Put out of your head any thoughts of traditional scratchy tweed, you can feel the silk in this fabric and it’s gentle on the skin and incredibly luxurious. This sample has hand appliqued lace in a shade that picks up on one of the soft melange of colours in the fabric. The SIlk Tweed is available in a beautiful range of colours but this design would also work beautifully in lots of other fabrics too. We’d be delighted to show you the options for your perfect, personalised design when you visit us for a Consultation.
Just like all of our designs though, you can choose your own fabric from our huge collections of samples and the colour, style and all the details can be tailored to your exact requirements.
For extra warmth we’ve added one of our gorgeous Maribou stoles in soft pastel silver grey. Our maribou is supremely soft, fluffy and lavish for absolute luxury. It’s not only for warmth though – it also adds gorgeous elegance and glamour!
Hope you like it
This is a close up shot, of the edge of a delicate lace capped sleeve. I love how you can see the details of the intricate texture and all the hand sewn Swarovski crystal droplets.
When you commission us to make your Bespoke Wedding Dress we will tailor every single detail to your preference. This was Amy’s choice, but what would make your dress personal, and unique?
Sometimes when Clients come to see us the sheer choice that we offer can be overwhelming. I love seeing the look of wonder growing on a Brides face when she realises that she can have ANYTHING! Any style, any fabric and any colour – all perfectly made to measure. It gives me my ‘Fairy Godmother’ moment as I know that my design expertise and my super skilled workroom can make all the Brides Wedding Dress dreams come true.
Lets make it happen 🙂

I thought I’d share a minor obsession of mine – a well made dress should look good on the inside, as well as the outside!
In the case of Couture clothes, beauty has to be a lot more than skin deep. It has to be built into every single stitch. The reasons are quite simple – it wont wear well if it’s not constructed properly. A poorly made dress might look great on the hanger, and it might be ok when you first try it on, but you want to be looking as good at the end of your special occasion as you do at the start. Nothing should itch or rub, and the dress or it’s lining shouldn’t twist when you wear it. The bones shouldn’t poke through, or feel like they’re just about to.
For your most special occasions it’s vital that you get to relax and have fun while you look fabulous. That means knowing that your dress has been constructed properly so look under the surface, and make sure that beauty isnt only skin deep…

This is the beautiful Bev Ross at her recent Wedding. She had a unique celebration that was full of details that made it special for her and her new Husband. She wrote us this lovely message which has left us all very touched.
“I just wanted to thank you again. I can’t believe how amazing I felt in my dress. And there isn’t one picture of me in it when I wish I was thinner or taller or anything, and that’s down to your amazing work and the whole emotional experience you gave me.
You have no idea how important it was.”
Thank you so much Bev! It was an absolute priviledge to be part of your special day.

This is another of our brand new exclusive designs. It’s just been finished and this is a quick snap of it on display on a mannequin in the Studio.
It has slightly cutaway shoulders and a key hole decollette finished with a swarovski crystal button. The fitted mermaid, or fishtail shape is fitted to the body and then flares out into a beautiful full hem.
The fabric is stunning – sheer tulle embroidered with sequins, beads and flowers in shades of blue, turquoise, silver and green over a blue satin under layer.
As usual with a new design we had a debate about what to call her. This one has been christened ‘Ariel’ after Ariel the Little Mermaid, one of Disney’s Princesses. It’s a terrible pun – but a gorgeous dress!
Hope you like it.
