I have a truly stunning Mother of the Bride to share with you today!

This is the lovely Margaret in her very own, bespoke designs. Her dress is a variation on our Amanda style. This flattering shape with side swept pleats suits almost every one. Margaret wanted her dress cut with a sweetheart neckline so we were delighted to oblige. She chose a Silver Pure Silk Dupion fabric with a contrasting shade of Turquoise Pure SIlk Dupion for the highlights.

Margaret also chose two jackets for the two separate celebrations – the first is a longer length version of our Evie jacket in Pure Silk Dupion. The jacket collar facing and lining was in Turquioise silk and the sleeve buttons are Swarovski crystal. The second jacket is a panelled variation on our Lola jacket in a heavily embroidered beaded lace in a darker shade of silver.

Naturally the waist embellishment on the dress had to match each look so we made it removable. To cordinate with Silk jacket there is a matching bow with contrast lining and a diamante brooch, and for the lace jacket a lace bow with a different brooch.

Every detail of these pieces was chosen by Margaret to be exactly what she wanted and we loved guiding her through all the choices. Thank you so much for sharing the pictures of your family and gorgeous daughter Margaret. You can see more images below

The Bespoke Design process

107a

The Bespoke Design process.

I’ve been working on some more bespoke designs today. I love getting busy with the sketch pad and working out the final details of a design. I never have a problem coming up with new ideas – the problem is sorting through them all to make sure I get the right match for the Client’s personal style. This is a vital part of what we offer – the world is full of ‘off the peg’ solutions but I want to make clothes that reflect the personal and unique style of my Client!

The picture above shows the second stage of the bespoke design process and the sketches that I produce to finalise a design after a Consultation. The hat, fabric, colour and diamonte trims shown are just a few of the thousands of options available. Sometimes a Client will fall in love with a particular fabric sample or colour and it can help me formulate the design when I have them in front of me. We have an amazing collection of diamante trims to choose from too so I like having the prettiest bits of bling around me to make sure I select the perfect ones.

Once the sketches are finished I just have to wait for my lovely Client to make the final decision. I know that this can take time. Making a decision about the right look is an important one, especially when you now the Wedding photographs and video are going to last a lifetime. I do strongly believe though that when we get the combination right the Client just ‘knows’. When we get the magic combination everything falls into place and all the stress of making the decision falls away.

Perfect!

Once thats done we’re one step closer to another unique, made to measure, personal style statement for another ‘Yummy Mummy’ Mother of the Bride.

Autumn Wedding Fashion

Autumn Wedding Fashion

It’s decidedly chilly here today so I’m sharing a picture of a dress and jacket that would be perfect for an Autumn Wedding. Dressing can be tricky for those times that might fall ‘between’ when the weather can be unreliable – and lets face it, in the UK that can mean pretty the entire year!

This exclusive design is called ‘Cheryl’ and its shown here in Silk Tweed. This fabric is soft and fluid but also cosy and warm. Put out of your head any thoughts of traditional scratchy tweed, you can feel the silk in this fabric and it’s gentle on the skin and incredibly luxurious. This sample has hand appliqued lace in a shade that picks up on one of the soft melange of colours in the fabric. The SIlk Tweed is available in a beautiful range of colours but this design would also work beautifully in lots of other fabrics too. We’d be delighted to show you the options for your perfect, personalised design when you visit us for a Consultation.

Just like all of our designs though, you can choose your own fabric from our huge collections of samples and the colour, style and all the details can be tailored to your exact requirements.

For extra warmth we’ve added one of our gorgeous Maribou stoles in soft pastel silver grey. Our maribou is supremely soft, fluffy and lavish for absolute luxury. It’s not only for warmth though – it also adds gorgeous elegance and glamour!

Hope you like it

Bespoke Design – Mink Silk Dupion with Champagne Lace

Sue ClyneHello,

I have a gorgeous picture of a Mother of the Groom with her brand new Daughter in Law to share today. Sue chose a completely new bespoke design in Pure Silk Dupion in a shade of pale mink. It’s overlaid with hand cut champagne lace with a delicate gold thread to add texture and sparkle.

Sophisticated and covered up, but still sexy – very Yummy Mummy!

Thank you Sue! Congratulations to you and your family.

Grown Up Glamour

Anita - 261Hello

We just received these pictures from Anita. Doesn’t she look amazing? This is absolutely how you do Grown Up Glamour!

This is our Hollie Dress – a cocktail dress in pure silk with long vertical panels and a contrasting piping that can be worn on or off the shoulder. Anita chose to pair it with a jacket in deep rose silk – a beautiful and very sophisticated combination.

Theres another picture of Anita below, and I’ve also put a picture of our model, Eli, wearing the dress too so you can see the sleek lines.

Thank you so much for sharing your pictures Anita, you look stunning!

Yummy Mummy – Modern Mother of the Bride

The Wedding Fair_March 2015-1032

Hello

Just a quick update tonight. We had another full day of Consultations and Fittings today and we have the same again for tomorrow. I might need to spend Sunday lying down in a dark room at this rate. Or possibly in a pub garden! I’ll check the weather forecast and then decide 🙂

We usually have a mix of appointments but today was almost exclusively Mothers of the Bride or Groom. It’s such an important role in a Wedding and I’m passionate about getting the designs right for every single Client. The clothes have to look amazing and fit perfectly (obviously) but you should also feel comfortable when you wear them. When you look in the mirror you should see YOU on your best day, not a stranger in the standard ‘Mother of the Bride’ uniform.

Ditch the frump! Choose something sassy and flirty. Maybe even a bit sexy!

The picture today shows our Susannah and Gemma styles on a recent Catwalk. (Click on the image to make it larger.) Both can be made in a whole rainbow of colours. We can add sleeves, make the hem longer or shorter, change the neckline and make any other adaptations that you’d like to make sure that the finished result is perfectly ‘You’!

The pictures of the happy day will last forever so make sure that when you show them off everyone sees you smiling and looking amazing instead of asking you who the old lady in the beige suit is…
